The Tour is over, time for an update.

What a race!

This year's Tour De France is over and it turned out to be great viewing, especially for me.  I was rooting hard for a couple of reasons, Spanish Cycling and my guy, Christian Vandevelde.

Sastre is from a town called El Barraco in the province of Avila. Some of you may remember another great cyclist from his town, Chava Jimenez, who died 4 years ago. Sastre dedicated his victory to "El Chava", who also happened to be his brother in-law.

Here's "El Chava" climbing the Angiluru in the 1999 Vuelta, he was amazing.

V-D-V

You know you're a big deal when Phil Liggett is calling you by your knickname. Christian Vandevelde is officially the most kick ass bike racer to ever come out of Chicago, better yet, the Southwest suburbs (Lemont)! Oh yeah, let's hear it for Bluff Road. I spent some quality time riding with VDV

when he was a kid and it was thrill to see him conquering the roads of France for all of us back here at home. Thanks man!

New Guy Alert!

We added a new guy to the stable. Please welcome Adrian,  he comes to us via Village Cycle. It turns out he wanted a new challenge in life and nothing is more challenging than working for us! Come by and stroke his Jusus-like locks. Bienvenido Cabron.

Welcome Back Smithy!

We received a visit from some former employees recently. If you were hanging out in our shop in the late 90's, you'll remember these 2 guys.

First there's Peter. Peter is now living in Milwaukee, where he is Owner/Chef of one of the hottest restaurants in Milwaukee, La Merenda. Peter is a sweet dude. Stop by the next time you're up North in Packer Country. http://www.lamerenda125.com

Next up is Saul. Saul is still residing in Chicago, he makes it through the shop a little more often these days and it's always good to see him. Saul runs a Doggie Adventure Company called Fit Dog Chicago. Saulito is a good friend, if you need someone to watch your doggies, give him a shout. http://www.yelp.com/biz/fit-dog-chicago-chicago

Tucker

One of our favorite customers stopped by the shop last week, some of you might remember seeing him in our shop. Please give a warm welcome to Tucker. Tucker is now married to Holly and has 2 Children, he is currently residing in Ohio. It had been years since we've seen him last, and it brought back some good memories having him in the shop again.

Keep a look-out for another update very soon. I'm tired now, it's late and I have to get some stuff done tomorrow.
